Lord of Balrogs

Lord of Balrogs
A title of Gothmog, greatest of the Balrogs and High-captain of Angband.
He fought in the Dagor-nuin-Giliath (where he mortally wounded Fëanor) and the Nirnaeth Arnoediad (where he slew High King Fingon with an axe).
He met his doom in the Fall of Gondolin, where he fought Ecthelion of the Fountain in the Square of the King, though Ecthelion also fell in that combat.
It is nowhere stated for certain how many Balrogs Gothmog had at his command, but the number seems to have been small; Morgoth had no more than seven of these Demons of Fire in his service.
